Eight Awesome Books for Rainy Days

Eight Awesome Books for Rainy Days

It’s mid-July and it’s been raining in Cebu (mostly during afternoons and evenings). That’s no news especially in this part of the country. Other regions have it worse (i.e. storms, floods, etc.), so I’m not complaining.

But if you have itchy feet, rainy season can be a big letdown. Though we took our chances and luckily found sunshine in Boracay in July two years ago, I wouldn’t recommend it.  We planned to visit Malapascua, but PAGASA confirmed that a storm was brewing up north.

So now is the perfect time to curl up at home with a great book. Stay safe while letting your mind do the traveling through books. I list eight books that I’ve been reading, which I hope you’d pick up and enjoy as the wet spell continues.

There’s nothing like a chat after reading the same book. You feel connected with someone else. And if you’re already friends, you get even closer by sharing the juicy bits about the books you read together. Hope these recommended reads help you and your favorite reading buddy/buddies share that vicarious joy of exploring another place, world, or time.

Anyway, here’s my reading list. Click PREVIEW to check if you like the book.

Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

Travels with Epicurus by Daniel Klein

Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance

The Nasty Bits by Anthony Bourdain

On Writing Well by William Zinsser

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Mistborn Series (Book 1, 2 & 3) by Brandon Sanderson

Prove Carpenters wrong and don’t let rainy days get you down. Read along and share with me what you think of these books. Or better yet, if you found books you think I’d love (you’d be surprised how unfussy I am), write them in the comments below. Happy reading!
