Well Played Playground & Kids Café at Astra Lifestyle Centre

In an ideal neighborhood, there is a park. Kids gather there, and you let your child find friends on his own. Then the rain comes. The grass turns wet and muddy, and the whole quiet miracle of kids touching grass and making friends stops happening.

That’s where playhouses come in.

Somewhere, entrepreneurial people saw that need and decided to meet it. That’s what Well Played at Astra felt like to me: a gift to parents who just want a cup of coffee while their kids stay within sight. It isn’t the typical playhouse where you drop your child off and leave. It also isn’t the kind where you’re stuck inside with them, trapped in the very place you paid for.

At Well Played, parents get to be observers. We watch our kids navigate the social world in a space that is safe and beautifully designed around their idea of play, with other kids to discover along the way.

A friend once asked if I worried about my son getting sick in places like this. Playhouses can be a hotbed for infections, with kids passing things along. I thought about it. But school is the same. So that was settled.

It helps to remind kids not to touch their eyes, nose, and mouth. If another child looks unwell, keep a little distance. The staff here turn away sick kids anyway.

So, back to Well Played. The rate is a bit steep for the general public. Play starts at ₱350 and goes up to ₱550 for three hours. It isn’t impossibly expensive, but one session costs about the same as two coffee dates. For some moms, that’s a lot. Still, playdates matter to a child’s well-being, and seeing other moms or girlfriends matters just as much to a busy mother.

If you go:

  • Where: Well Played Playground & Kids Café, Astra Lifestyle Center, A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue City (next to The Little Gym). There’s also a branch at Baseline, Cebu City.
  • Rates: From ₱350 up to ₱550 for 3 hours of regular play. Confirm at the counter, as rates may change.
  • Hours: Daily, 11 AM to 8 PM (per Well Played’s March 2026 post).
  • What’s inside: Music studio, vet clinic, police station and pretend-play town, mini road track, ball pit, rescue team zone, book store, mini kids’ gym, and a café for parents.
  • Good to know: Outside food isn’t allowed inside. Outdoor tables at Astra are open, and Metro is nearby for snacks. Sick kids are turned away. Kids grip socks with silicone soles are required.

I believe every mother deserves places that recognize her needs and meet them with care and high standards. (Every mother works hard, employed or not.) That’s what Well Played has been for us.

When Astra opened in December 2025, this place was still being built. Well Played had its soft opening on March 7, 2026. Its first branch opened at Baseline around September 2024, and I’m glad they chose a second home in our neighborhood. Just like the Baseline branch, it sits right next to The Little Gym, my son’s first school. I loved that school, but that’s another post.

Outside food isn’t allowed, which is standard for most cafés. You can, however, grab a table outside, which is what my partner and I did. He walked over to Metro Supermarket (yes, there’s

For now, I give Well Played Playground & Kids Café four stars. The design is consistently beautiful and warm with wood, and my son leaves happier than he arrived. The missing star is for affordability.
